A quick and easy side dish featuring tender-crisp green beans tossed in fragrant garlic butter.

  • 1 pound green beans
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add 1/4 cup water and the green beans to a large skillet.
  2. Place the skillet over high heat.
  3. Bring the water to a boil.
  4. Cook the green beans for 3 minutes.
  5. Remove the green beans from the skillet.
  6. Drain all water from the skillet.
  7. Wipe the skillet dry with paper towels.
  8. Add the butter to the skillet.
  9. Add the minced garlic to the skillet.
  10. Stir and cook until the garlic is fragrant.
  11. Add the green beans back into the skillet.
  12. Sprinkle in the kosher salt.
  13. Sprinkle in the coarse ground black pepper.
  14. Toss all ingredients to combine.
  15. Sauté the beans over medium-high heat for 3-5 minutes.
  16. Ensure beans do not overcook, keeping them tender-crisp.

Notes

Use fresh, firm green beans for the best texture.
Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if needed.
Freshly minced garlic provides the best flavor.
Wipe the skillet completely dry after boiling for a proper sauté.
