An incredibly addictive and easy-to-make sweet and salty treat featuring a crispy cracker base, rich toffee, and smooth chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers – 1 package
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips – about 1 package

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×13 rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, ensuring it covers the entire bottom.
  3. Lightly spray the parchment and sides of the pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  4. Arrange about 40 saltine crackers in a single, even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Break a few crackers in half if needed to fully cover the surface without gaps.
  6. Add 1 cup unsalted butter and 1 cup packed brown sugar to a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan.
  7. Melt the mixture over medium-high heat.
  8. Stir gently in the middle of the pot just until the butter and sugar are combined.
  9. Once the mixture begins to bubble across the entire surface (middle and edges), set a timer for exactly 3 minutes.
  10. Let the mixture boil without stirring for 3 minutes.
  11. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  12. Pour the hot toffee immediately over the saltine crackers.
  13. Use a spatula to spread the toffee evenly over the entire tray, coating each cracker.
  14. Bake the toffee layer for 5 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  15. Remove the baking sheet from the oven once the caramel is bubbling evenly.
  16. Let the baking sheet cool for 1–2 minutes.
  17. Sprinkle 2 cups of chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee layer.
  18. Place the tray back into the warm, turned-off oven for 1 minute to soften the chocolate.
  19. Remove the pan from the oven.
  20. Gently spread the melted chocolate into a smooth, even layer, covering all edges.
  21. Let the candy cool on the counter for 20 minutes.
  22. Refrigerate the candy for 3–4 hours, or until completely firm.
  23. Once fully chilled, lift the cracker candy out of the pan using the parchment paper.
  24. Transfer the candy to a cutting board.
  25. Slice into squares or break into pieces by hand.
  26. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Always use parchment paper and spray it for easy release.
Do not stir the toffee during its 3-minute boil time.
Ensure the candy is fully chilled before cutting or breaking.
Add festive sprinkles or chopped nuts over the melted chocolate for extra flair.
