Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  • Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk the egg.
  • Dip each piece of chicken in the egg, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C). Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  • While the chicken is frying, prepare the hot honey sauce by combining hot sauce and honey in a small bowl. Mix well.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, toss it in the hot honey sauce until evenly coated.
  • Assemble the bowls by placing rice at the bottom, followed by the hot honey chicken. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
