Ingredients

  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Melted Butter
  • Vanilla Extract

  • Granulated Sugar
  • Vanilla Bean
  • Butter (optional)

Instructions

  • Combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • For the vanilla syrup, combine water and granulated sugar in a saucepan.
  • Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds and the pod to the saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened slightly.
  • Remove from heat and stir in butter (optional).
  • Serve the pancakes hot with homemade vanilla syrup.
