  • 1 1/2 cups Buttermilk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 4 tablespoons Melted Butter (unsalted)
  • 1-2 teaspoons Red Food Coloring (gel recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon White Vinegar

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  • Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
