  • 1/4 cup (50g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gently bring the dough together with your hands until it forms a smooth ball. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch (6mm) thickness.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes.
  • Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and prick them all over with a fork.
  • Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Decorate as desired with sprinkles, icing, or sanding sugar.
