- 1 cup (125g) All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup (113g) Unsalted Butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup (50g) Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Using a pastry blender or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently bring the dough together with your hands until it forms a smooth ball. Be careful not to overmix.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch (6mm) thickness.
- Use cookie cutters to cut out festive shapes.
- Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and prick them all over with a fork.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Decorate as desired with sprinkles, icing, or sanding sugar.
