Start your day with these easy, protein-packed overnight oats featuring delicious berries and rich chocolate.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ scoop chocolate protein powder (or other protein source)
  • 1-2 tsp. chia seeds (more or less, depending on how oatmeal thickness desired)
  • 1 tsp. honey, agave or other sweetener of choice
  • ¾ cup milk of choice (low fat milk, soy, almond, cashew, etc.)
  • ½ chopped fruit of choice (strawberries, blueberries, bananas, apples, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Add old fashioned oats to a mason jar or other portable container.
  2. Add chocolate protein powder to the container.
  3. Add chia seeds to the container.
  4. Add honey, agave, or other sweetener of choice to the container.
  5. Pour milk of choice into the container.
  6. Add chopped fruit of choice to the container.
  7. Close the container tightly with a lid.
  8. Shake the container vigorously to combine all ingredients thoroughly.
  9. Place the sealed container in the refrigerator.
  10. Chill for 2-3 hours or preferably overnight.
  11. When ready to eat, give the oats a final stir.
  12. Adjust sweetener if needed, to taste.
  13. Serve chilled.
  14. To warm, place the container in the microwave for 1 – 1.5 minutes.
  15. Check on oats every 30 seconds to prevent overheating or overflow.
  16. Give a final stir before enjoying warm.

Notes

Adjust chia seeds for desired thickness; more for thicker, less for thinner.
Use old-fashioned oats, not instant, for the best texture.
Shake the jar well to ensure all ingredients are fully combined.
Feel free to experiment with different fruits like bananas or apples.
