- Blue gel food coloring
- Purple gel food coloring
- Yellow gel food coloring
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Tint each portion with a different gel food coloring (pink, blue, purple, yellow), kneading gently until the color is evenly distributed. Do not overmix.
- Roll each colored dough portion into a log. Gently twist the logs together to create a marbled effect.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll small balls of the twisted dough and flatten slightly into cookie shapes. Or, if desired, slice the twisted log into ½-inch thick rounds.
- Place the cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Do not overbake to keep them soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
