  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces (or two 14.5-ounce cans of cut green beans, drained)
  • 2 (10.75-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 (6-ounce) can crispy fried onions
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain well.
  • In a large bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix well.
  • Stir in half of the crispy fried onions.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine the remaining crispy fried onions with the melted butter.
  • Sprinkle the onion mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
