- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces (or two 14.5-ounce cans of cut green beans, drained)
- 2 (10.75-ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 (6-ounce) can crispy fried onions
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using fresh green beans, blanch them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain well.
- In a large bowl, combine the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix well.
- Stir in half of the crispy fried onions.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining crispy fried onions with the melted butter.
- Sprinkle the onion mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
