  • 12 Peeps (any color or shape)
  • 300 grams high-quality melting chocolate (dark, milk, or white)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning)
  • 2 tablespoons festive sprinkles
  • 2 tablespoons crushed nuts
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons crushed freeze-dried fruit
  • 2 tablespoons edible glitter
  • Food coloring (for white chocolate)
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet

Instructions

  • Prepare your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Unwrap all your Peeps and have them ready.
  • Melt the chocolate: Melt your high-quality melting chocolate using a double boiler method (a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn’t touch the water) or carefully in the microwave. If using the microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring vigorously after each, until mostly melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat. If the chocolate is too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil at a time until it reaches a smooth, flowing consistency.
  • Dip the Peeps: Hold a Peep by its base and submerge it about two-thirds of the way into the melted chocolate. Gently lift the Peep, letting any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. You can lightly tap the wrist holding the Peep against the side of the bowl to help shake off extra chocolate. For an extra touch, swirl the Peep gently in the chocolate and then give it a final tap.
  • Decorate: Immediately after dipping, while the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle generously with your chosen decorations (sprinkles, crushed nuts, shredded coconut, etc.).
  • Set the chocolate: Carefully place each decorated, chocolate-dipped Peep onto your prepared parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining Peeps. Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm to the touch.
  • Storage: Store Chocolate Dipped Peeps in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 weeks. Allow them to come to room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture.
