- 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (one packet)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ¼ cups warm milk (about 105-115°F)
- ¼ cup melted butter (unsalted)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
- Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)
- Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning while kneading.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
- Flatten each ball and fill with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Pinch to seal.
- Arrange the cheese-filled dough balls in a Christmas tree shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the dough with melted butter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
