  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (one packet)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups warm milk (about 105-115°F)
  • ¼ cup melted butter (unsalted)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  • Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add garlic powder and Italian seasoning while kneading.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
  • Flatten each ball and fill with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Pinch to seal.
  • Arrange the cheese-filled dough balls in a Christmas tree shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Brush the dough with melted butter.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
