- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chopped apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chopped apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Drop teaspoons of caramel sauce on top of each cookie and swirl gently with a toothpick or knife.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
