- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, freshly minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately plunge them into an ice bath. Drain well.
